Mamoun Nukumanu (b. 1995 Long Island, New York) is an artist most known for his living sculptures. While he was formerly based in Brooklyn and Long Island, NY, he now is open to exploring and working in different locations, allowing projects and inspiration to guide where he and his practice takes root.

Unsurprisingly, Mamoun’s work is difficult to categorize: after beginning his studies in microbiology, he shifted his focus toward the intersection of art, ecology and biodesign — ultimately graduating from NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2019.

Mamoun’s work draws on “arborsculpture, regenerative architecture, and poetic futurism,” creating living, site-specific sculptures and environments using trees, willow, mycelium, and other natural materials.

Projects and exhibitions include Earth Resonance (2024) — a living willow installation exhibited at Socrates Sculpture Park during “The Socrates Annual 2024”; Earth and Sky (2024 - )  at The Ranch, Montauk, a living, multi-structure, installation; and his solo show, “Birds” at Tripoli Gallery (Wainscott, NY), showcasing drawings and sculptures that reflect his vision of “nest-making”.
